As part of the preparation of the New Local Plan, work has been undertaken on exploring future development opportunities at two of the larger villages in Darlington; Middleton St George and Heighington. Draft spatial plans have been drawn up for both of these villages.
The Council is to consult the villages on these draft spatial plans in order to receive feedback from the community and stakeholders. The consultation will run from 4 Dec 2017 until 8 January 2018. During this period you can provide your views and comments to us on the draft plans.
The comments received will be used to inform the new Local Plan for Darlington and any policies / proposed allocations for the village areas.

Drop in sessions are also being held in the villages at the beginning of the consultation period. Council Officers will be in attendance with the draft plan for the village and they will be able to answer any questions which you might have. Please see details of the locations and times below.

Consultation on emerging proposals for the development of land to the North of Darlington town are taking place during October 2017. The first event is being held on Wednesday 11th October and the second will be held on Saturday 14th October.
The promoters of the Skerningham Garden Village site, Theakston Estates, will be engaging with local residents and businesses so that their views can be used to inform the development of a masterplan for the site.

Tees Valley Strategic Highway Improvements – Have your say by the 1st September 2017
In partnership with the Tees Valley Combined Authority, the four other Tees Valley councils and Highways England, we have set out proposals for better transport connections across the Tees Valley area.
These proposals include a new Tees Crossing, taking some pressure off the A19 Tees Viaduct, and enhanced east-west connectivity with improvements to the A66 between the A1(M) and Teesport, which includes the possibility of a new Darlington Bypass.
Consultation on the proposal remains open until Friday 1st September 2017.

Improving roads, improving lives
